They want you to try the R+ subscription, instead of running the program for free in demo-mode because in demo-mode you have only the stock devices, and you can't save anything. while when you try R+ for a month, you get ALL the Reason Rack Extensions, AND you can save your projects, which basically ties you in to their ecosystem and gives a much bigger chance of people who try it out to keep subscribing. The FAQ page screenshotted directly above you literally says that in order to try Reason 13 before purchasing, you must sign up for a $1 trial, and then goes on to refer to this as a "subscription" that "can be cancelled at any time".
How is this not a subscription?
The bottom line is this: Yes, they advertise to try R+ for one dollar for one month, but you can still demo the perpetual license version for free.
