when you hit a key you get that power chord, not just that note. You have to change the Chord Mode to "Note" so you can play your own chords.
I'm playing it in instrument mode, which has no note/chord selector, but I believe it does this same thing in player mode: you get a power chord when you press one key in the play range, but if you play a chord it will play that chord, instead, and it will tell you what it's playing. I've found that your timing has to be perfect, or you'll get one power chord squelching another, but that's okay. I eventually sequence what I want and can make it perfect.
Just sequence it exactly as you would play it. i.e. Put the keyswitch for the pattern you want into the Sequencer, with the notes/chord you want to play in the octaves above it. There is absolutely no reason to be dragging the MIDI patterns into your sequencer. I don't even understand why they put that feature in.
I'm modifying the phrases, and I'm creating my own, but mostly I'm looking at the phrases to see what makes them work. I don't play guitar and I've never "gotten it" how any of these guitar VSTs use keyswitches for articulations. The UJAM guitars are really simple, though, and while watching a video on punk strum patterns it finally clicked how I can do that in Iron or Sparkle.

And I wanted to hear the Carbon phrases in Iron. I had to do some scripting to accomplish that, as those two instruments aren't quite compatible.
This is an Ultravox over I did a few years ago, which uses several different playing styles, all done with a single instance of Iron, playing the same patch throughout -

This one uses Carbon and Iron together (no vocals this time), I shouldn't have to tell you what it is -
Those are both very cool, thanks for sharing!
I suggest you try out the free version of Shreddage.
I have and, as previously mentioned, have not figured out how to make music with it. I've learned a lot playing with the UJAM instruments, though, and will give Shreddage another go.

THanks!
