This is precisely why I have gone all hardware. I have a Model-D, Pro-1, Pro-800 (Behringers), Waldorf M, Iridium, Blofeld and Streichfett, a Hydrasynth Explorer and a Roland Integra-7.
The reason is that I sit in front of a screen all day long and find working with softsynths uninspiring, plus I cannot even begin to explain what a lousy experience moving some virtual knobs with a trackpad or a mouse is. And yes, I have tried many different controllers, but they don't translate well enough for me.
I just want to push a few on/off buttons and play, but with software I have to hook up my Mac first, load Cubase, and then for some mysterious reasons some times struggle with zero audio coming out of the monitors or headset, even though no changes were done from the previous time. And by the time I fix it, sometimes all inspiration and creativity is gone.
Now, I literally just push a few buttons and play or make new sounds.
And I love it, every second of it.
