Thanks for the reply. I have reaper and studioOne.Maybe you're not using the DAW that's right for you? IME, there's no one DAW that fits all personality types.I can’t learn a DAW by myself or YT vids or forums.Yes, agreed. I improved by playing along with backing tracks. Playing along with my own tracks, I get too critical and end up stopping to edit the timing with a mouse.Just Recording guitar tracks in tune and in time is waaaay harder than I thought. Even with my many years of experience practicing and in bands.
I’m always rushing or dragging.Yes, agreed again. What helps me here is using a fuzz pedal, that way the sound is a bit darker, smoother, and less edgy:And too much listening to Amp Sims can give a someone a serious dose of analysis paralysis.
And possibly tinnitus.

I have learned the basics in Reaper so use that now. But yea I can imagine there are different ones more intuitive for certain ways of learning/ personalities. What’s ur preference for a DAW?
Re timing and backing tracks - yeah been playing to BT’s for years. But when just jamming the mistakes don’t stand out/ don’t notice them cos no pressure. But when recording.. wow every. Little. Mistake. And the tuning also. I see now how parts are punched in and guitars tuned to certain neck positions in sessions etc. I’ve seen a video where the producer (? Valentine) tunes each chord(!!) individually. That was crazy. But I could imagine myself going there with my OCD. (I won’t admit how long I spent trying to “perfectly tune”/ intonate my guitars before I learned about Equal Temperament! That was a real bad period of my life

I record to a drum track but even then I slip out. I don’t know how to edit/cut recorded tracks properly yet to fix this ,is the big issue.
Re the tinnitus I will try that one. Unfortunately now it’s too late . Lockdown amp sim testing made my tinnitus way worst. Thanks Overloud. An aptly named amp sim. SQUAAAWWWKKKKKKK! (Feedback)
