I don't think Reaktor is EOL because they aren't developing the end user interface part of it. I realize most of you have come to that conclusion from various statements on the NI forums, but IMO you're all reading too much into it. Too many Reaktor based instruments in their catalog, including pulling some back into Reaktor to think it's EOL. It's not being developed for end users, sure. So I guess I should have been clear, they have developed instruments based on Reaktor needing the Reaktor player, (Monark etc.), recently the PLAY series are 100% glorified Kontakt Romplers, and I see no reason to assume this will change.Eh? Reaktor has never been used to develop Play instruments? I'm not sure why you're conflating the two.
Again, Reaktor isn't mentioned in any advanced plans. It's EOL.
Here's how it squares, I've seen them sell minor improvements as amazing innovative products in the past, I see no reason to get hyped for Kontakt 8, and the road towards everything basically being a Komplete Kontrol style preset is clear. There's no actual indication otherwise. Personally I'm OK with Kontakt but most people hate it as a sampler, use the various other samplers out there, and mostly stick with the libraries in Kontakt. Sample library developers seem to like it, but at some point they get sick of the NI tax and make their own interfaces, EW Opus, Spitfire, Cinesamples Museo etc. etc. Mark my words here, they will absolutely not release Kontakt 8 and have it be some game changing sampler workstation, they will barely catch up to Falcon, and make it easier for third party developers to make PLAY style "instruments".But - one more time - in sharp contrast they have this to say about Kontakt:https://community.native-instruments.co ... cer#latestLater this year, we’ll significantly expand what's possible in Kontakt, our flagship instrument platform. We're excited about the new sonic opportunities this will enable for both instrument builders and music producers.
No idea how any of that squares with "I'm betting PLAY instruments based on Kontakt or Reaktor under the hood are what we see going forward". But you are right in that it IS all speculation.
I've owned Komplete since Version 2, owned Kore, Maschine, Rig Kontrol etc. I skipped Komplete keyboards v1 but I own an s88 MKII. I've watched their business moves for 20 odd years now, nothing new is happening. They will do enough to keep us talking about them, but they will burn some bridges.
